A survey of Bouc-Wen hysteretic models applied to piezo-actuated mechanical systems: Modeling, identification, and control

Abstract: Hysteretic nonlinearity behavior ubiquitously occurs in mechanical systems, particularly in high-precision instruments, which severely degrades system output performance. Consequently, it is unavoidable to establish an accurate hysteretic model to describe the hysteretic characteristic of various mechanical systems and to compensate for the system error caused by hysteresis. The piezo-actuated mechanism is one of the most frequent mechanical systems that occurs hysteretic phenomenon, explained in detail in thi… Show more

“…The Bouc-Wen model was proposed by Robert Bouc in 1967 to describe hysteretic nonlinear systems, and Yi-kwei Wen extended it in 1976 [93,98,135], thus establishing the classical Bouc-Wen model. The Bouc-Wen model can be regarded as a variant of the Duhem model [80].…”

“…h(t) can be regarded as a differential equation transformed from the "dw/dt" transformation in the Duhem model [80]. α, β, γ and n determine the width and shape of the hysteresis curve, and these four parameters are introduced in detail using hysteresis curves in literature [91,96,98].…”

“…This paper first introduces the MCMC algorithm which uses the MH method to sample and the SGHMC algorithm. Secondly, the SGHMC method was used to identify the parameters of the classical Lagrange dynamic modeling of a robot manipulator [1] and the CBW (the classical Bouc-Wen) model [31], [32], [33], the accuracy of the two models was compared, and the hysteresis model parameters were identified. Finally, the global sensitivity of the CBW model and hysteresis formula is analyzed.…”
