A survey of ring signature

Abstract: Ring signature allows specifying a set of possible signers without revealing which member actually produces the signature. This concept was first formalized in 2001 by Rivest, Shamir and Tauman. In this paper, we review the state-of-the-art of ring signature, summarize the study of ring signature schemes in the literature and investigate their relationships with other existing cryptographic schemes. We also describe a large number of extensions, modifications and applications of ring signatures after the origi… Show more

“…To practically realize enhanced anonymity in the traffic flowing across network nodes in our framework we utilize Zerocash-Zcash (https://z.cash/), its predecessor Zerocoin (http://zerocoin.org/), and linkable ring signature schemes (https://github.com/sorrge/LSAG) presented in [40] and [41]. Zerocash provides a strong privacy-preserving digital currency, Zerocoin offers a cryptocurrency that conceals details of the transaction whereas linkable ring signature avails means to verify whether same signer generated two different signatures, but yet no way to tell the signer's identity.…”

“…As for its characteristics, every user in the ring is at the same level and every user can sign on behalf of the whole group. The signer as a representative does not need to obtain consent from other members [11,12] . The verifier is concerned about the group that signs rather than the specific user in the group that signs.…”
