A System for Monitoring the Energy Characteristics of an Electron Beam during the Generation of High-Power Bremsstrahlung Pulses

Abstract: A method and a device were developed for monitoring the dynamic and integral characteristics of powerful electron beams in high-current pulsed accelerators (HCPAs) operating in the bremsstrahlung mode. The static and dynamic transfer characteristics were obtained for different types of heterogeneous converter targets under the operating conditions of an ìàç-10 direct action HCPA with an electron energy as high as 4 MeV, a current as great as 60 kA, and an efficient pulse duration of 6 × 10 -8 -2 × 10 -6 s. It … Show more

“…In this case the parameters of the high-power electron beam are input characteristics of the converting target as a converter, and the parameters of the bremsstrahlung in a chosen medium and geometry are output characteristics of this converter. It is desired to determine static transfer characteristics of the converter at the given conditions of transportation of the high--power electron beam [4].…”

“…After their treatment by the methods [4,8] information about the effective electron energy in a pulse in the converting target plane was obtained (Fig. 2), on the basis of it spectral-energetic characteristics of the bremsstrahlung and electron beam was determined.…”
