A Systematic Literature Review on Packaging Sustainability: Contents, Opportunities, and Guidelines

Abstract: The relationship between packaging and sustainability has caused the evolution of literature towards the minimization of environmental damage. The task of packaging professionals is becoming more demanding, as they need to collect information from distinct topics to stay up to date. “…The Requirements Engineering method for Sustainable PSS design (R-PSS) proposed by results from real case experiences in partner companies approached by the graduate students of an Industrial Engineering course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) which follow the premise of delivering value (mainly sustainable) to various stakeholders. The R-PSS method was applied in several cases, demonstrating a flexible and customizable approach to different proposals aimed at sustainability and circular value (Dorigon et al, 2019;Lermen et al, 2020;Peralta et al, 2020;Sastre et al, 2019). The R-PSS is a reference model composed of three learning cycles.…”

“…So far, in Bangladesh, there is no specific standardized procedure for ecofriendly packaging. Eco-friendly packaging refers to selected designs and materials in boxes, mailers, and other packaging supplies so that their impact on the environment is minimized (Sastre et al, 2022). Although eco-friendly packaging varies from company to company, it generally considers reducing waste, maximizing recycling, and increasing the usage of renewable energy and biodegradable materials during production.…”

“…The objective of this scoping review is thus to examine the scholarship in order to explore possible connections between posthumanism and sustainability. To date, various systematic reviews concerning different aspects of sustainability have been published (Bigliardi & Filippelli, 2022;Lieb, 2020;Martins et al, 2022;Rasoolimanesh et al, 2020;Rosário et al, 2022;Sastre et al, 2022). We also included one of them (Walsh et al, 2021) in our selection since it tracks the concept of relationality-an important concept for posthumanist scholarship-in sustainability-related studies and fits our inclusion criteria.…”
