“…Adopting a sustainable HR approach to PM incorporates a balance of financial results with positive human and social outcomes, both of which are critical to sustaining superior long-term business performance (Maley, 2014). However, though employee health and wellbeing are considered a part of human capital (Islam and Amin, 2022) compared with other HCM topics, OHS was less discussed and seldom investigated in the PM. “…Human capital theory implies that education is a form of individual investment aimed at obtaining explicit returns regarding the individual's career path, with the purpose of ensuring that individuals, by investing in their education, develop their human capital to increase their competitiveness in the labour market (Cai, 2013;Nimmi et al, 2021). The literature on human capital in the context of employment has often considered the consequences of this factor, such as employability (Caballero et al, 2021;Donald et al, 2019) and career success (Frederiksen & Kato, 2018), but has appeared to give only limited attention to the means by which human capital is developed (Islam & Amin, 2022). This study proposes that career development learning (CDL) is an antecedent of students' investment in their human capital and, accordingly, positively influences their employability.…”

“…Similarly, Chen and Choi (2008) describe work values as the underlying preferences and opinions that should be met in people's career choices that can result in job satisfaction. According to Islam and Amin (2021), Gahan and Abeysekera (2009) and Newman and Nollen (1996), developing a more in-depth understanding of employee work values and employee well-being is a key element to organisational success as workforces and becoming increasingly diverse through the internationalisation of business. More specifically, Ralston et al (1997) argue that one of the most pressing issues facing MNCs worldwide is the sheer complexity of understanding and reconciling the diverse work-related value systems of their multidomestic operations.…”

“…Its central proposition is that certain core characteristics of a job affect the psychological state of the individual employee, which, in turn, impacts work-related outcomes such as motivation, job satisfaction, employee performance and retention. Empirically, there are studies that tested the validity of the JCM, partly within the context of uncovering positive relationships between certain job characteristics and attitudinal as well as behavioural reactions (see, for instance, Islam and Amin, 2021; Humphrey et al , 2007; Clark, 2015; Blanz, 2017).…”
