A Systematic Review of the Technology Acceptance Model in Health Informatics

Abstract: Telemedicine applications were between 1999 and 2017, the ICT application area most frequently studied using the TAM, implying that acceptance of this technology was a major challenge when exploiting ICT to develop health service organizations during this period. A majority of the reviewed articles reported extensions of the original TAM, suggesting that no optimal TAM version for use in health services has been established. Although the review results indicate a continuous progress, there are still areas that… Show more

“…This result is consistent with the studies by Briz-Ponce and García-Peñalvo 32 and Schomakers et al 44 Therefore, many health programs and services can be implemented on this technology because it is easy to learn and use. According to review by Rahimi et al, 26 facilitating condition is one of the most common factors in most technology settings, especially mobile technology for all user groups. So, the facilitating condition factor in this study is confirmed for mHealth technology and student user groups and is compatible with the study by Rahimi et al 26 In addition, there was a significant relationship between behavioral intention and use which is consistent with the results of many studies.…”

“…18 MHealth has been used to treat many diseases as a health intervention just like a new treatment, and studies have also talked about its effectiveness in monitoring and tracking patients, especially chronic patients, as the use of healthrelated capabilities plays an effective and beneficial role in the therapeutic process of patients with asthma, acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), the monitoring of elderly peoples, and many other diseases. [19][20][21][22][23][24] In health care services, where distance is a major factor, the use of mHealth by health care providers to exchange valid information for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and prevention of injury, research and evaluation, and providing continuing education are inevitable in advancing the goals of the health system. 25 In other hand, Rahimi et al identified three main (ICT) application areas for the technology acceptance model (TAM) in health services: telemedicine, electronic health records, and mobile applications.…”
