A Technological Framework for Transparent E-Voting Solution in the Nigerian Electoral System

Abstract: This paper presents the design of a technological framework for electronic voting (E-voting) systems in Nigeria. The traditional voting system with paper ballots used in the Nigeria electoral system is time consuming and in most cases marred with irregularities due to system and/or human errors. These irregularities usually results in inconclusive electoral decisions, violent arguments, and expensive litigations. “…Naturally, when people are fearful of a thing, it reduces their chances of using it. These results support the findings of previous studies such as Abushaasin (2018), Adiyarta et al (2018), Başgöze (2015), Larasati and Santosa (2017), Parasuraman (2000), Osho et al (2015) and Uzedhe and Okhaifoh (2016). Insecurity is generally associated with new technology use, hence, it is understandable for the citizens to also exhibit caution with regard to the use of e-voting system.…”

“…Several proposals aimed at improving the present Nigerian e-voting system have been put forward by various researchers. Human control and manipulation of specific technological devices are one of the challenges of the Nigerian e-voting system [45]. Therefore, an automated polling system that minimizes human supervision thereby guaranteeing transparency and accuracy of the voting process was proposed.…”
