“…The recent development of STM-based single-atom electron paramagnetic/spin resonance (EPR/ESR) [34,35,36,19,37,38,39,40,41,23,24,42] led to several breakthroughs and enabled the possibility of detecting the weak hyperfine interaction associated to single Ti, Fe, Cu adatoms and Ti dimer on MgO/Ag(001) [43,1,2]. We note that a deep understanding of the mechanism enabling the STM-based EPR/ESR experiment is still a puzzle under heavy investigation [44,45,46,47,41,48,49]. Regarding the hyperfine interactions, it is interesting that they were detected, so far, on a limited set of adatoms on a bilayer of MgO film.…”
