A theoretical survey of atomic structure and forbidden transitions in the 4pkand 4dkground configurations of tungsten ions W29 +through W43 +

Abstract: Energy levels, wavelengths and radiative decay rates have been calculated for states within the 4p k (k = 1-5) and 4d k (k = 1-9) ground configurations in highly charged tungsten ions. Magnetic dipole (M1) and electric quadrupole (E2) transition probabilities have been obtained using the fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) approach including the correlations within the n = 4 complex, some n = 4 → n = 5 single excitations and quantum electrodynamics effects. The validity of the method is ass… Show more

“…In general, the QR results are in a good agreement with the experimental wavelengths from [10]. Table 3 contains the calculated data for transitions among the levels of the ground configuration determined in the QR approach and those calculated in the multiconfigurational Dirac-Fock approximation (MCDF) [15]. As the total transition probabilities arising both from the M1 and E2 radiative transitions are presented in [15], we also tabulate the QR data in this way.…”

“…In all level energy data tables for the W 43+ -W 38+ ions, we present the comparison of our QR results with the NIST data [28]. Furthermore, the relativistic calculation results from [6], marked as "RELAC" [6], and the theoretical data from the MCDF calculation [8] are given in Tables 2-7. These tables also contain the results of other authors if such data are available.…”

“…The fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) approach is applied to determine the energy levels of the ground configurations for the ions from W 29+ to W 42+ in [8]. The magnetic dipole (M1) and electric quadrupole (E2) transition probabilities among the levels of the ground configurations are also calculated.…”
