A Triboelectric Nanogenerator Based on a Pendulum-Plate Wave Energy Converter

Abstract: Ocean waves are a promising source of renewable energy, but harvesting this irregular low-frequency energy is challenging due to technological limitations. In this paper, a pendulum plate-based triboelectric nanogenerator (PP-TENG) is proposed. The PP-TENG absorbs wave energy through the pendulum plate installed at the bottom of the device, which generates a swing effect. This drives the motion of the upper TENG power generation unit and generates a charge transfer on the surface of a film of polymer PTFE and … Show more

“…In particular, Xu et al developed a system consisting of a tower-like TENG (see Figure 5 b), which was constituted by different units of polytetrafluoroethylene balls and a three-dimensional printed arc surface coated with nylon. Again, by the combination of PTFE and nylon, Zhu et al developed a different configuration plate TENG based on the pendulum effect (PP-TENG) [ 66 ]. The PP-TENG absorbs wave energy through the pendulum plate installed at the bottom of the device, which generates a swing effect.…”

“…Alternative fuels, which include liquefied natural gas (LNG), LPG, hydrogen, and biofuels [30]- [34], provide options that are both sustainable and beneficial to the environment [35]- [38]. If the marine sector were to make use of alternative fuels and renewable energy, it would be possible to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions while simultaneously improving air quality in port regions and coastal zones [39], [40]. Two advantages may be gained by utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power to generate electricity [41]- [46].…”
