A two-step vibration-sound signal fusion method for weak fault feature detection in rolling bearing systems

Abstract: The vibration and sound signals get widely applications in fault diagnosis of rolling bearing systems, but the detection accuracy is unstable at different measuring positions. This paper puts forward a two-step vibration-sound signal fusion method, in which sound signal fusion and vibration-sound signal fusion are executed respectively. The sound signals are fused through weighting to the vibration signal to reduce the influence by measuring positions, and the phase difference is eliminated by a sliding window… Show more

“…The Dempster-shafer Evidence Theory (D-S Evidence Theory) is a complete theory to deal with uncertainty problems. The core of Dempster's rule of combination can be used to synthesize multiple factors and combine different information [24,25]. The mathematical definition of D-S evidence theory is as follows [26].…”

“…Building vibration [1,2] can lead to structural deformation, thereby compromising the safety of the structures. Similarly, vibrations in mechanical equipment [3,4] can result in damage or injuries; therefore, monitoring these vibrations is crucial to minimizing losses and enhancing safety. One of the key pieces of equipment for acquiring vibration signals is the acceleration sensor, which is widely used in the monitoring of large structures and for ensuring environmental safety.…”
