Availability and maintainability of a satellite are relevant during scheduledand unscheduled maintenance outages. These maintenance tasks are importantduring the life of the satellite in orbit due to the hostile environment to whichthey will be subjected. Maintainability and availability strategies exist to ensuregreater reliability, achieve a minimum number of failures, and increase the meantime between failures. This article compares the availability model provided byNAVSTAR without aging with a new proposed SPN model with aging that showsan increase in satellite availability. To achieve the results obtained in the proposedSPN model, the variables of the scheduled and unscheduled outages of satellitemaintenance are used, injecting them into the proposed model.
