“…Both BeN distances of the compound (1.600(2) Å) are at the short end of the reported range (1.502–1.943 Å),21 whereas the BeI distance (2.296(2) Å) is significantly shorter than those in the only other structurally characterized compound that contains a BeI bond, [BeI 2 (OEt 2 ) 2 ] (2.412 Å mean) 22. In contrast, compound 14 is dimeric in the solid state with iodide ligands bridging the heavily distorted trigonal bipyramidal calcium centers (such as in the dimeric structures of [{( Dipp Nacnac)Ca(thf)(μ‐X)} 2 ] X=F23 or Cl24).…”

“…The situation is different with complexes comprising the small calcium ion: the metal atom is located 0.64 Å from the NCCCN mean plane in the five‐coordinate cationic complex 5 (trigonal‐bipyramidal geometry), and 0.75–0.82 Å in the four‐coordinate {BDI i Pr }CaN(SiMe 2 H) 2 (THF),12 which contains two independent and very similar molecules in the asymmetric unit. Steric factors play a significant role in Ca complexes: the distance of the Ca ion from the NCCCN plane was found to be 1.22 Å in the four‐coordinate, but highly hindered, {BDI i Pr }CaN(SiMe 3 ) 2 (THF) complex,4a whereas it was typically in the range of 0.80–0.95 Å in several five‐coordinate complexes such as [{BDI i Pr }Ca(OH)(THF)] 2 ,28 [{BDI i Pr }CaH(THF)] 2 ,29 [{BDI i Pr }CaF(THF)] 2 30 and {BDI i Pr }Ca(CCSi i Pr 3 )(THF) 10d. Obviously, a fine interplay between steric and electronic factors determines the structural features observed in known neutral Ca and Sr complexes.…”

“…In the enamel it converts apatite into fluoroapatite, which is more resistant to attack by acids generated by bacteria. Here it is worth mentioning that our group reported on the first soluble CaF 2 complex [(Cp*TiF 2 ) 6 CaF 2 (THF) 2 ] (Cp* = C 5 Me 5 ), and subsequently prepared b-diketiminate substituted calcium and strontium fluorides [7][8][9]. There are only a few reports on the synthesis of compounds with substituted germanium(II) and tin(II) fluoride in the literature, but no records of their reaction chemistry [10,11].…”
