A wideband liquid antenna with high optical transparency for ultra‐high‐definition television applications

Abstract: In this letter, an optically transparent and wideband liquid antenna for UHD‐TV applications is presented. The proposed antenna utilizes a high concentration of dissolved salts as the conductor inside a hollow L‐shaped clear acrylic component, offering very high optical transparency of more than 87% (@200 ppt) in the visible range. The electrical performance of the antenna is optimized and verified through experiments, showing good agreement between the simulation and the measurement. The results show that the… Show more

“…It achieves perfect integration with the surrounding environment, therefore it overcomes the problem that the traditional metal antenna affects the visual experience and reduces the aesthetics. 1,2 With the advent of the 5G era, there are many available frequency bands for mobile communication systems, such as GSM380, CDMA850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS190, UMTS, LTE2300, LTE2500, and N78, which require antennas to have broadband characteristics. 3 Therefore, a broadband transparent antenna with a simple structure and stable performance applied to indoor mobile communication will have a wide application prospect.…”

“…Currently, optically transparent antennas applications are considerably attractive not only in both theoretical researches but also in practical applications owing to their transparency [1,2]. The existing optical transparent antennas generally have solid metallic transparent electrodes (TEs) [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10].…”
