A ZCMT Precoding Based Multicarrier OFDM System to Minimize the High PAPR

Abstract: This paper presents a Zadoff-Chu matrix transform (ZCMT) precoding based multicarrier orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) system to minimize the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In the proposed system, ZCMT kernel is applied to the constellation symbols which not only reduces PAPR but also improves bit-error-rate (BER) performance. The ZCMT precoded OFDM signals allow the radiofrequency high-power-amplifier (HPA) to operate near its saturation level, thus maximize the power efficiency. Ex… Show more

“…Also, out of all the members of the wavelet family, the Haar transform performed the best-regarding BER improvement for a given value of SNR [22]. It has been observed that precoding techniques [23][24][25][26][27][28][29], as well as the use of transform other than FFT , improve the BER and PAPR reduction performance for OFDM/WiMAX/MIMO/OFDM-MIMO system.…”

“…The DFT precoding in SC‐FDMA results in low PAPR with improved BER performance because of the frequency diversity gain through spreading. Other precoding techniques or matrices are also studied for the PAPR reduction in OFDM systems, ie, WH transform in the work of Park et al, ZC sequences in the work of Baig and Jeoti, DCT in the work of Baig, DST in the work of Baig et al, DHT in the work of Baig, and CI codes in the work of Yang and Wang . In Section 3 of our work, precoding techniques are compared on the basis of PAPR performances with pulse shaping and some useful insights about roll‐off factor, the number of taps required to implement transmit filter, excess bandwidth required, efficiency, and implementation cost of transmit filter.…”
