Abstract:Background
Intestinal fibrosis and stricture formation are common complications of Crohn’s disease (CD). Recently, the stricturing phenotype has been recognized to be primarily attributable to hypertrophy/hyperplasia of smooth muscle, rather than an increase in fibrosis alone.
