The voting system in the world has been characterised with many fundamental challenges, thereby resulting to a corrupt contestant winning an election. Researchers have been emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually concerned about the election malpractices recorded at various levels of electing a representative. Questions on how corrupt stakeholders in elections could be prevented from fraudulent activities such as rigging and impersonation called for discussion and answers. Consequences of declaring a corrupt contestant as a winner are bad governance, insecurities and diversification of public funds for personal gains. There must be approaches to tackle the problems of voting systems. This paper focused on a comprehensive review of electronic voting systems by different scholars as a platform for identifying shortcomings or drawbacks towards the implementation of a highly secured electronic voting system. The methods used by different scholars were technically reviewed so as to identify areas that need improvement towards providing solutions to the identified problems. Furthermore, countries with history on the adoption of e-voting systems were reviewed. Based on the problems identified from various works, a novel for future work on developing a secured electronic voting system using fingerprint and visual semagram techniques was proposed.

Free elections are one of democracy's principles. Elections will be used to choose the representatives of the people. It is underlined on how important it is to organize free, fair, and secret elections. Traditionally, voting used to be conducted by stamping on paper, then placing it in a ballot box with the chosen candidate. Each vote in every ballot box must be counted separately, and the votes for each contender must then be added up to determine which candidate had the most votes. Everything was done manually, it will take longer to announce the winner. Numerous errors are being made, but they will not change the outcome. In this study, a significant system that stops electoral malpractices and expedites the voting process will propose. The controller utilized in this project is the Arduino Uno. The user is authenticated using a fingerprint. Everybody's fingerprints differ from one another. The device is programmed using the Arduino IDE, and the ballot card is displayed, and the results are stored in the cloud. Only a registered voter may cast a vote, and the system alerts users to any fraud. This project protects citizens' freedom to vote and ensures an impartial election.

The purpose of this research is to build electronic voting machine to increase transparency in election. This system uses microcontroller as the central part which registers the vote of the individual, the vote will be cost by pushing the button where for the identification of voter, figure print scanning module is used. Human finger prints are rich in minutia which are used in finger prints verification. This paper focuses on finger prints system of identification, which actually is minutia matching (MM), which is widely used in fingerprint algorithms.The technique include extraction from fingerprints the minutia points (MP). The technique is to match two fingerprint images by performing fingerprint matching technique. The main steps used for recognition are enhancement of image, segmentation of image, extraction of minutia and its matching
