Abdome Agudo Obstrutivo por hérnia hiatal tipo IV – Um relato de caso / Obstructive acute abdomen for type IV hiatal hernia – A case report

Abstract

To report a rare case of a patient with acute obstructive abdômen with a spontaneous type IV hiatal hernia. Case report: 78 year old woman bedridden and with multiple comorbidities, with a history and exams suggestive of acute obstructive abdomen, whose laparotomy demonstrated a large volume hiatal hernia containing a portion of the stomach and omentum. Conclusion: A multidisciplinary view of the patient would have increased the index of suspicion for the pathology and would provide early diagnosis and treatment, given the presence of the atypical picture of hiatal hernia complication.
