Aberrant Expression of miR-142-3p and its Target Gene HMGA1 and FZD7 in Breast Cancer and its Clinical Significance

Abstract: Our results proved that miR-142-3p may serve as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer by suppressing the expression of oncogene HMGA1 and FZD7, suggesting that miR-142-3p has the potential to become a diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

“…MiR-124-3p may also be a chronic regulator of gene expression after brain injury [43], therefore, miR-124-3p is a promising therapeutic target for interventions in neuroinflammation after TBI. Additionally, miR-142-3p, which has also long been studied, has been reported in several tumours [44][45][46] and other diseases [47,48]. Its expression in rat hippocampus after TBI has been reported [49], indicating that it may be a sensitive and informative biomarker for forensic assessment of TBI.…”

“…30,31 The aberrant miR-142-3p expression not only has diagnostic value but also predicts prognosis for cancer patients. 32 Overexpression of miR-142-3p can inhibit the proliferation, invasion, and migration of gastric cancer cells. 33 However, no reports have established the significance of serum miR-142-3p levels in patients with CRC.…”

“…These findings suggested the potential oncogenic function of HMGA1 in cancer progression. Notably, HMGA1 has been identified as the target of several miRNAs, including miR-26a, miR-195, miR-625 and miR-142-3p (36)(37)(38)(39). miR-26a targets and decreases the expression of HMGA1 and inhibits the migration of osteosarcoma cells (40).…”
