One of the natural ingredients that is often developed as an antibacterial product is the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera). However, scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of the antibacterial compounds contained in dates needs to be evaluated, considering that several previous studies have reported that dates are more dominant as antioxidants than as antibacterials. Therefore, it is necessary to reevaluate the antibacterial ability of the methanolic extract of the sukkari variety date palm against the three test bacteria that cause acne, namely P. acnes, S. epidermidis and S. aureus. This research aimed to determine the sensitivity of the three bacteria tested in response to the methanol extract of the sukkari dates. This research design is experimental. The samples tested were sukkari and the tested bacteria were P. acnes, S. epidermidis and S. aureus. Dates were extracted by maceration method and made in concentrations of 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and 90%. Positive control was chloramphenicol antibiotic while negative control was sterile distilled water. All treatments including control (+) and (-) were given to the test bacteria using the Kirby Baeur method to see the diameter of the zone of inhibition of the test bacteria growth. The data was processed in tabular form and compared with the 2016 CLSI standard to see the sensitivity response of the test bacteria. Results of this research is the sukkari dates extract with concentrations of 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and 90% was able to inhibit the growth of P. acnes, S. epidermidis and S. aureus bacteria with an interval of 7.0-10.0 mm in diameter of the zone of inhibition. All the tested bacteria showed a sensitivity response in the resistant category, so the sukkari dates fruit extract is not the main choice to be developed as a natural anti-acne product.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the second largest infection after respiratory infection and can cause sepsis. Urinary tract infections occur due to the entry of microorganisms in the urinary tract. The urinary tract that is usually infected is the urethra (urethritis), bladder (cystisis), ureter (ureteristis), kidney tissue (pyelonephritis). This study aims to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the diagnostic test of nitrite examination with urine culture in suspected urinary tract infections. The method of this study is a descriptive-analytical study with a cross-sectional retrospective approach, conducted in the STIKes field laboratory with the population studied in this study were all patients diagnosed with urinary tract infection with a sample size of 50 samples. The results of this study showed positive nitrite results as many as 17 people, 34% percentage, and negative nitrite results as many as 33 people with a percentage of 66% and on urine culture examination obtained positive results as many as 17 people with a percentage of 34%, which results in growth of bacterial colonies on cultures> 100,000 CFU / mL and negative results of 33 people with a percentage of 66%. Sensitivity Results 82%, Specificity 90.9%. The conclusion of this study is the value of sensitivity, high specificity so that the nitrite test with urine culture can be applied to help diagnose UTI.

Sponge Haliclona sp. is a type of sponge living in marine waters and is found in many areas of coral reef ecosystems. This study aimed to determine the potential for sponge Haliclona sp. obtained from Tanjung Tiram waters, Konawe, as a source of bioactive compounds of MDR (Multidrug-Resistant) antibacterial. The isolation method of Haliclona sp. symbiont was carried out by pouring and purification of Haliclona sp. symbiont using the scratch method. The purification results obtained 12 isolates of symbiont bacteria that were successfully isolated. Then the bacterial isolate was tested for its antibacterial ability against MRSA and ESBL Escherichia coli bacteria qualitatively using the agar diffusion method. Bacteria that have strong inhibitory activity are identified by morphological and biochemical tests. The results of the qualitative screening test produced four bacterial isolates that have inhibitory activity against MRSA (Methicilin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) pathogenic bacteria with the isolate codes H3 and H8 belonging to the strong category while H4 and H10 belonging to the medium categoy. Additionally, two bacterial isolates that have inhibitory activity against ESBL Escherichia coli pathogenic bacteria with the isolate codes H3 and H8 belonging to the strong category. Based on morphological observations and biochemical tests, the H3 bacterial isolate was identified as the genus Corynebacterium spp. and the H8 bacterial isolate was identified as the genus Micrococcus spp. In conclusion, Haliclona sp. sponge exhibits promising potential as a source of microorganism producing antibacterial compounds, particulary againts MDR (Multidrug-Resistant) strains.
