ABNO‐Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidation of Thiols to Disulfides under Atmospheric Pressure

Abstract: We report herein a practical protocol for the synthesis of symmetrical disulfides under atmospheric pressure, utilizing 1 mol% ABNO (9‐Azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane N‐oxyl) as an efficient catalyst and O2 as terminal oxidant. Thiophenols and aliphatic thiols could be oxidized smoothly to give disulfides in 70%–90% yields.
