Abstract: This study analyzes a routing and scheduling problem of cabotage oil ships motivated by the actual operation of an oil company along the Brazilian coast. Maritime transportation costs from offshore platforms to coastal terminals are an important issue in the search for operational excellence in the oil industry, and the prospects for gr… Show more

“…The details of these experiments can be found in [60]. After verifying the consistency and correctness of both the model and the two heuristics in these small examples, they were tested to solve larger problem instances with real data provided by the company, with 16, 22 and 44 pairs of pickup and delivery requests, named, respectively, N16, N22 and N44, all with |K| = 25 ships.…”

“…For instance, the model does not take into account the compartmentalization of ships in order to simultaneously transport different products, but considers the ability of the ship in aggregate form. In some cases, products of different platforms may be mixed in the same compartment of the ship; some ideas for the proper extension of the model to incorporate such constraints of the incompatible mixture of products transported in a ship can be seen in [60]. The model also admits that the time windows of both the platforms and terminals are rigid because they implicitly consider the inventory constraints of ballast and the tops of the platforms, the demands of terminals, and hence, penalties for time window violations are not applied.…”

“…On the route planning of dangerous goods vessels, Zhou et al [1] carried out the transport scheme optimization for the West Africa-China route with the objective of minimizing the total cost of transporting cruise ships. Rodrigues, Vincius Picanço [2] , and others considered the timeliness and added the time window constraint to plan the tanker route. Jaeyoung Cho [3] examined the LNG carrier route problem from the standpoint of risk and cost.…”
