A method of analysis of heritage values (VEM - Values Evaluation Method) as criteria for intervention in existing buildings is presented. It is based on the authenticity of the values and on the integrity and functionality of the building. A matrix of values has been prepared that allows their parameterization and weighting, as well as the proposal of possible interventions for their recovery. Here we carry out the application of the method to a series of interventions already made to verify the effectiveness of the method. Eleven cases of buildings in two countries (Algeria and Spain) have been selected, on which there are previous studies and total or partial interventions. The buildings are briefly presented and the application of the methodto these buildings is compared with the actual interventions. The great similarity between them allows us to confirm the effectiveness of the VEM as a tool for decision-making prior to the intervention.
