About transition processes in blasthole drilling at quarries

Abstract: As a system, the mining enterprise develops under constantly changing conditions of the external and internal environment. These conditions affect the state of the most important drilling subsystem: blasthole drilling technology, safety, performance, power consumption of the boring rigs and roller bits used. The main transition processes as necessary responses of the subsystem to changing conditions were identified as a result of fragmentary data analysis showing decisions taken over the past 15-20 yea… Show more

“…10.30897/ijegeo.842565 burden between rows, spacing between blast holes, subgrade, stemming, and explosives properties that would deliver optimum fragmentation of rock (Sergey, et al, 2017). Regotunov et al (2020) reported that changing the bit design for specific rocks; drilling method; drilling mode; boring rig design; controlled parameters of the drilling process and rock properties redetermination among other factors contribute to the growth of drilling performance. They construed that it is possible to predict changes of individual factors depending on changes of other factors, not functionally related directly when planning drilling operations.…”

“…Thus, it is relevant to undertake the research aimed to improve the design of roller bits to ensure their high penetration rate. Many researchers addressed the design development and performance improvement of the roller drill bits [1][2][3][4][5][6].…”
