ABS-TrustSDN: An Agent-Based Simulator of Trust Strategies in Software-Defined Networks

Abstract: Software-defined networks (SDNs) have become a mechanism to separate the control plane and the data plane in the communication in networks. SDNs involve several challenges around their security and their confidentiality. Ideally, SDNs should incorporate autonomous and adaptive systems for controlling the routing to be able to isolate network resources that may be malfunctioning or whose security has been compromised with malware. The current work introduces a novel agent-based framework that simulates SDN isol… Show more

“…For example, García-Magariño et al [17] proposed a process called PEABS for constructing efficient multi-agent simulators. They applied it to some cybersecurity issues and successfully developed simulators like ABS-SecurityUAV [18]. Such previous research is oriented to the expressiveness of agent-based systems.…”

“…In this case, we used a different ABS that allowed us to simulate a larger number of vehicles. This ABS was inspired by the existing ABS-TrustSDN [34], with the differences of having peer-to-peer distribution of reputation and revocation of certificates by the official certifier.…”

“…They tested their approach with commercial UAVs showing its utility. Agent-based simulators (ABSs) have been useful for testing security strategies in different kinds of networks, like ABS-TrustSDN [8], which allowed to manage trust on network nodes in software-defined networks.…”
