Absence of antibody to cyclic citrullinated peptide in sera of non-arthritic patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection

Abstract: The objective of this study was to investigate if antibody to cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) is detected in sera of patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Serum anti-CCP and IgA, IgG, and IgM rheumatoid factor (RF) isotypes were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay on 176 non-arthritic patients with HBV infection. IgA RF, IgG RF, and IgM RF were detectable in 29.5, 21, and 18.8% of the tested sera, respectively, with a total seropositivity rate of 42.7%. Marginally elevated … Show more

“…Median value for anti-CCP was higher than the normal range suggested by the manufacturer of the test (<5 U/ml) (Results, Table 1). This data is additionally interesting because clinical investigations on patients infected with hepatitis C as well as the patients with chronic hepatitis B did not conWrm the presence of elevated anti-CCP values [12,13].…”

“…Patients with chronic HBV may contain RF (especially the IgA isotype) in 20-75% of the cases but rarely do they contain anti-CCP. Therefore, even in the presence of RF, arthralgia or arthritis related with chronic hepatits B, patients do not develop or suffer from RA [54].…”

“…При этом важным диагностическим признаком служит наличие в крови HBs антигена. Содержание АЦЦП при ХГС обычно не повышает-ся, поэтому данные признак может быть использо-ван для дифференциальной диагностики с РА [56]. Основными препаратами для лечения хронической ВГВ инфекции являются ИФНα и аналоги нуклео-тидов (ламивудин, адефовир, ентекавир и др.)…”
