Absent pulmonary valve syndrome with tetralogy of Fallot detected at an early gestational age of 27 weeks – A case report

Abstract: We conclude that when a paracardiac cystic, pulsatile lesion with dilated pulmonary arteries are seen in the fetus in utero then other features associated with the syndrome, such as TOF and the presence or absence of the ductus arteriosus should be looked for. In our case there was no ductus arteriosus.

“…TOF is not only an anatomic anomaly, but it also seems to be a complicated genetic disorder that can be associated with other anomalies such as an absent pulmonary valve, the absence of a pulmonary artery, and extracardiac anomalies [22,23]. Most patients with APA have pulmonary artery hypertension [5,10].…”

“…APVS is associated with airway compression which continues to remain a challenge. Compression against bronchial tree and esophagus due to dilated pulmonary artery and its branches may inevitably lead to bronchomalacia and polyhydramnios [ 3 ]. In their series including 21 fetal cases with absent pulmonary artery, Volpe et al detected 22q11 microdeletion in 25% of the cases [ 4 ].…”
