Abstract 10069: Effect of Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System Inhibitors on Left Ventricular Structure and Function in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Carriers
Abstract:Introduction:
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare X-linked neuromuscular disorder affecting 1:5,000 males that results in terminal injury to the skeletal muscle and the heart. Recent evidence suggests that DMD female carriers are also at increased risk of developing cardiomyopathy. Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) antagonists reduce morbidity and mortality and inhibit adverse left ventricular remodeling in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. The benefit of… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
