Abstract:Introduction:
Autophagy is a catabolic process that involves the lysosomal degradation and recycling of cellular components. It acts as a cell protective mechanism to promote cellular homeostasis or survival during nutrient deprivation. Studies in the past decade have shown the involvement of autophagy during tumorigenesis, but much are left to be debated on its controversial role as a tumour suppressor or a potential protective role in promoting cancer cell survival. Knockout of autophagic core… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
