Abstract:An increasing number of studies have reported a deleterious role of inorganic phosphate (Pi) in promoting hypertension. Previously, we have shown high Pi diet-induced excessive pressor and sympathetic responses to muscle contraction in otherwise normal rats, which were primarily mediated by an overactive exercise pressor reflex (EPR), a reflex arising from contracting muscle. However, the mechanism underlying these abnormalities generated by excess Pi intake remains unclear. Dietary Pi is known to increase rel… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
