Abstract: Introduction: Endovascular infections with bacteria are often devastating with subsequent high morbidity and mortality. Exo- and or endotoxins of bacteria can activate endothelial cells, leukocytes and platelets. Platelets are first line defence they accumulate at sites of vascular injury or infection.
