Abstract 361: PDK4 is dispensable for PDAC chachexia

Abstract: Cachexia is an involuntary weight loss and muscle wasting that affects up to 80% of advanced cancer patients. It is an independent prognostic marker for response to treatment and overall survival and accounts for 20% of cancer-associated deaths. Skeletal muscles of cachectic patients manifest metabolic abnormalities, notably increased dependence on lipids as a source of energy at the expense of glucose.
