Abstract: Background: Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted disease worldwide. α-genus HPV have oncogenic potential in anogenital skin and mucosa. Transplant patients have an increased incidence of β-genus HPV-associated cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). The host immune system is particularly important in the pathogenicity of HPV infection.
