Abstract: Chronic inflammation has recently been suggested to be involved in cancer development, and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), a key mediator of the inflammatory response, is known to be upregulated in several cancers. COX-2 is responsible for the production of prostaglandins, and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is the major prostaglandin involved in inflammation.
