Abstract: Background: Statins are a class of drugs that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, a rate liming enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. Simvastatin, a widely used generic drug for preventing cardiovascular events inhibit inflammation and stabilize atherosclerotic plaques.
