Abstract:Fractionated radiotherapy, administered by high energy external beam X-rays, is the mainstay of several cancer treatment regimens. However, treatment is often required for several weeks, with cure rates limited by radio-resistant hypoxic areas within the tumour, patient compliance due to the frequency of required treatments and cumulatively high total radiation dose that can cause adjacent tissue toxicity. Radiosensitisers are being developed to improve efficacy, but most are still limited by tumour hypoxia. T… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
