Cheating in examinations across the globe is an issue of growing concern. This study argues that the culture of cheating in exams in Balochistan has reduced the efficiency of human resource and has resulted in producing students with high qualifications but less potential in the province. Therefore, it is very importantto explore the factors contributing to cheating in exams and to suggest a course of action to mitigate the menace it poses. A quantitative research method was employed for this study. Similarly, statistical techniques such as correlation and logistic regression were conducted for statistical analysis and explanation of thestudy using SPSS. Theoretically, the study is inspired by rational choice theory. The findings of the study show a significant relationship between personal, institutional, and situational factors. Personal factors that contribute to cheating were found to be students’ desire to excel, low GPA, and slow learning. Institutional factors include the weak administrative role of institutions, poor academic policies, overload on students, and weak performance of the teachers. Situational factors such as the poor management strategy of the examiner, time pressure, and technological tools were found to be instigating students towards cheating. The study suggests that an appropriate exam hall setting, effective monitoring, concept-oriented exams, and a strong honor code can decrease cheating.

The incorporation of local knowledge into pocket book learning media provides for a multidimensional strategy for enhancing academic integrity. To create a learning atmosphere that prioritizes both academic excellence and ethical conduct, this incorporation mixes contemporary educational techniques with traditional cultural views. This paper aims to systematically review and synthesize literature on the creation of pocket book learning media based on local knowledge, with a focus on its potential to enhance academic integrity. To investigate the research topic, a systematic literature review was conducted using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) methodology to address three main research objectives. The quality of studies reviewed between 2013 and 2023 was analyzed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Three (3) articles were rated as average, eleven (11) articles as above-average quality, and the remaining six (6) were rated high quality. The central discovery of the research highlights a shared foundation between local wisdom and academic integrity, which are moral and social ethics, honesty, trust, and respect, forming a basis upon which pocket book learning media can be crafted. By infusing the principles of local wisdom into pocket book learning resources, the potential to enhance academic integrity arises due to this common ground. The study has further established a versatile framework that, in conjunction with various research models, can guide the creation of learning materials rooted in local wisdom, thereby fostering and promoting academic integrity.

Prior researchers have used surveys to identify frequencies and types of academic integrity violations among students and to identify factors correlated with academically dishonest behaviours. Some studies have also explored students’ justifications for their behaviors. Comparatively little work, however, has explored students’ opinions on academic integrity using more nuanced and conversational, but still rigorous, methodologies. To address this gap in the literature, we gathered written and oral comments from 44 Canadian undergraduate business students who participated in one of four year-specific computer-facilitated focus groups. Specifically, we analyzed students’ responses to questions about the general attitudes among themselves and their peers with respect to academic integrity. We also analyzed students’ suggestions of steps that both they and faculty could take to improve the culture of academic integrity in their program. Our contributions to the field of academic integrity were three-fold. First, we gave voice to students in an area in which historically their opinions had been lacking, namely in the generation of specific actions that students and faculty can take to improve academic integrity. Second, we connected students’ opinions and suggestions to the broader literature on academic integrity, classroom pedagogy, and organizational culture to interpret our findings. Third, we introduced readers to an uncommon methodology, computer-facilitated focus groups, which is well suited to gathering rich and diverse insights on sensitive topics.
