The use of a foreign language in knowledge production and dissemination is crucially important to academics. Despite this, academics' self-efficacy belief in their foreign-language oral production is under-researched with little data available for cross-cultural comparisons. This study therefore examined faculty members' self-efficacy beliefs for foreign-language oral communication by several background variables. A correlational research method was employed: a diverse sample of faculty members completed an online or paper questionnaire assessing their self-efficacy in foreign-language oral communication. The results revealed no significant differences for the gender, age or work experience of the respondents. It was found that faculty members obtained significantly higher scores on the duration of their foreign-language study, previous experience in teaching in a foreign language, experience of living abroad and academic rank. On the whole, the results suggest that there is a significant association between formal and informal foreign-language experience and self-efficacy.

Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will benefit the national economy. Therefore, educators and school community have given appropriate attention to students that are competitive to fulfill the industrial economy needs. This research studied the nurturing of attitude towards STEM among students in developing interest in STEM careers by using the survey method. Research objective to determine direct influence between attitude towards STEM and development of STEM career interest among Form Four science stream students. A total of 398 Form 4 students from the science stream in secondary school in Selangor, Malaysia have been chosen as respondents. The Student Attitudes questionnaire toward Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S-STEM) and interest in STEM career is used to study the influence of attitude towards STEM in developing STEM career aspiration among science stream students. Result of the study shows that the students attitude in developing STEM career recorded the value p =.002 and is significant with the value of p < 0.05. Besides, the effect of influence for the three attitude sub-constructs towards STEM which are science (0.65), technology & engineering (0.65) and mathematics (0.59) recorded the value of more than 0.3 which give a huge impact of research. Thus, the nurturing of attitude towards STEM among students provide a new dimension in the learning process for future need compared to considering it as a study requirement only for academic purpose.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the selected antecedents (i.e. supervisor support and organizational justice) and outcomes (i.e. voice behavior and career satisfaction) of work engagement (WENG).Design/methodology/approachTo gauge the aforesaid effects via structural equation modeling, the current study used data collected from hospitality and tourism academicians at public universities in Turkey.FindingsThe proposed model is viable. Specifically, WENG mediates the impacts of supervisor support and organizational justice on voice behavior and career satisfaction.Research limitations/implicationsUsing longitudinal data in future research would make it possible to draw causal inferences. Testing research productivity as a criterion variable in future papers would enable the researchers to ferret about whether WENG would mediate the effects of supervisor support and organizational justice on research productivity.Originality/valueEvidence about the factors affecting employees' WENG is still meager. Especially, there is a need for research about the factors that may affect academicians' WENG at universities. Research findings present valuable implications for tourism and hospitality educational institutions.
