Acarochelopodia and Actacarus Species (Acari : Halacaridae) from Australia, with Remarks on A. pacificus and A. orthotectus

Abstract: Acarochel(rpodia bi"nguis Bartsch, 1988 and four new species of Actacarus (A, chelonis, A, cornutus, A, nanus, A. spinosus) are recorded firom beaehes and subtidal sediments of northeastern Australia; A. spinosus and A. chelonis are alse recorded fkrem Freneh Polynesia, and the latter species from Indonesia. Otto (2000c) reestablished the Chilean species (A. orthotectlls) because of its slender P-2 and presented an illustration of the palps of both a Chilean and Western Australian specimen (Otto, 2000e: figure 3e and f). The palps are said to show a lateral aspect.…”
