Accessibility and Economic Connections between Cities of the New Western Land–Sea Corridor in China—Enlightenments to the Passageway Strategy of Gansu Province

Abstract: In 2019, China proposed the New Western Land–Sea Corridor (NWLSC) to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between China and Southeast Asia. As an important province in western China, Gansu plays a crucial role in transportation and cultural exchange in the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB). “…Interestingly, our results are consistent with the results of a recent study by the authors of [58], which investigated the economic connections between cities in the New Western Land-Sea Corridor in China. Xie and collaborators found that the relationship between transportation accessibility and economic development was also curvilinear, with a quadratic effect that peaked at a moderate level of accessibility.…”

Less research has focused on the relatively backward land transport along the Silk Road Economic Belt, with particular focus on the Northwest Corridor Belt [35] and the entire Silk Road Economic Belt [36] as the starting point for discussion.…”

“…According to the above, for a line with N stations, there are at most (N − 1)(N − 2) possible combinations of solution results for each station. In the study of Qin et al [26], it is mentioned that the location entropy is used as the basis to judge the traffic intensity. In this study, because the average value is used as the waiting time, when the data volume is large, the value is more accurate.…”
