Accuracy and Complications of Computer‐Designed Selective Laser Sintering Surgical Guides for Flapless Dental Implant Placement and Immediate Definitive Prosthesis Installation

Abstract: The mean lateral deviation was <1.8 mm, and the mean angular deviation was 6.53°. However, 41.67% of the implants had apical deviation >2 mm. The complication rate was 34.4%. Hence, computer-aided dental implant surgery still requires improvement and should be considered as in the developmental stage.

“…[89] Based on the simulation, the implant dimensions (13 mm length and 55 mm diameter) and positioning were determined [Figures 2 and 3]. To minimize orthodontic movement, the mesial surfaces of teeth 11 and 22 and the proximal crown of the tooth to be extracted were slightly worn down.…”

“…Therefore, the use of an apparatus for injection guidance to the LPM, with accuracy to target its upper head, would minimize the risks and optimize the results. The advent of modern imaging and rapid prototyping techniques, using computed tomography (CT) [1316] made possible the development of such device, a customized injection guide to the superior head of the LPM.…”
