Abstract: Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of frameless and frame-based techniques for biopsies of intracranial lesions in an exclusive assistance service at a public health center in Brazil (SUS). Method A review of 65 medical records of patients with brain lesions who underwent a frame-based or frameless biopsy from September 2017 to July 2019 was performed. Results Among the 65 patients who underwent biopsy, 42 were male, and 23 were female. The mean age was 53.1 years. Most patients (… Show more

“…The uorescein group demonstrated an odds ratio (OR) of odds ratio (OR) of 5.67 (95% con dence interval [CI] 1.5937-20.2368; p = 0.0074), favoring the achievement of a diagnosis. Despite previous studies indicating reduced diagnostic e cacy in frameless stereotactic biopsies for small and deep-seated lesions, these factors did not show a statistically signi cant association with reduced procedural e cacy in the present study [2,7,11]. Despite its advantages, the effectiveness of uorescein is less pronounced in non-contrast-enhancing lesions, where its sensitivity markedly decreases.…”

“…Stereotactic needle biopsy is recognized as a critical diagnostic tool for intracranial lesions, especially when surgical removal is not an option. Despite the utilization of sophisticated diagnostic modalities, relying solely on clinical symptoms and radiological imaging can sometimes fail to provide a de nitive diagnosis [1,2]. Therefore, histopathological analysis is indispensable for precise patient management [3,4].…”
