Abstract:Acemetacin is the carboxymethyl ester of indomethacin and is a pro-drug precursor compound, in other words, a prodrug. The pharmacologically active metabolite of acemetacin is also indomethacin. Acemetacin exerts its potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory effects in the body as indomethacin.
