Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitory and Antioxidant Activities of Novel Symmetric Sulfamides Derived from Phenethylamines

Abstract: The antioxidant and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory properties of novel symmetric sulfamides derived from phenethylamines were evaluated. Phenethylamines 8-11 were reacted with SO2Cl2 in the presence of Et3N to afford sulfamides in good yields. The synthesized sulfamides were converted to their phenolic derivatives with BBr3. We elucidated the antioxidant activity of novel symmetric sulfamides by using different bioanalytical assays. For this purpose, the radical scavenging activities of the novel symmetric su… Show more

“…[26] The ability of pure compounds to decrease the color reacting directly with ABTS •+ radical is a measure of their antioxidant capacity. In addition, ABTS •+ radicals are more stable then DPPH radicals and could be used to evaluate hydrophilic and lipophilic compounds.…”

“…Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are known as reactive oxygen derivatives occurred from free radicals such as superoxide anion radicals (O À 2 ) and hydroxyl radicals (OH ) [3][4][5][6] . ROS assault to membrane lipids and this event results in lipid peroxidation [7][8][9][10] . Also, they can affect the cellular proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and other potential susceptible substances.…”

“…This protein imaging method was previously described [40][41][42] . In this application, the imaging method was performed out in 10% and 3% acrylamide for the running and the stacking gel, respectively, with 0.1% SDS 43,44 . Both CA isoenzymes activities were determined according to the method of Verpoorte et al 45 and described previously 46,47 .…”
