Acid Pit Stabilization Project (Volume 1 - Cold Testing) and (Volume 2 - Hot Testing)

Abstract: During the summer of Fiscal Year 1997, a Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act Treatability Study was performed at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. The study involved subsurface stabilization of a mixed waste contaminated soil site called the Acid Pit using jet grouting of an innovative grouting material to form a monolith out of the contamination zone. The monolith simultaneously provides a barrier to further contaminant migration and closes voids in… Show more

“…In circulation, sustaining unidirectional flow occurs [1,2] . That means the change of cubage is the reason of outflow, and the flow rate is the sum of cubage change in the unit time [3,4,5,6] . But the author finds out that besides bulk flow caused by the change of cubage during the working period of piezoelectric pump, there is also flow inertia caused by flow inertia.…”

“…In this repetition, the unidirectivity flow occurs [1,2]. In the same time, it's taken for that there exists favorable linear relationship between drive voltage and the distortion of the vibrator [3], if the drive voltage is changed, the chamber volume is also changed, in this way, the precise control of liquid is achieved [4,5,6]. But in this paper, it comes out that not only volume change can cause the liquid flow out of the pump, but inertial flow formed by flow inertia.…”
