Acoustic Emission and Damage Characteristics of Anthracite Under Different Conditions

Abstract: Acoustic emission (AE) can be used to observe the process of coal fracture propagation. Based on a press and acoustic-emission platform, the damage and acoustic-emission characteristics of anthracite with different loading rates, water amounts and sizes were studied. The results show that there is less acoustic emission in the initial compression stage of coal; acoustic emission is more active in the transition from elastic deformation to plastic deformation, which is manifested in the following aspects: the f… Show more

“…The research shows that the deformation characteristics of coal under the two methods are consistent, but there are some differences . The damage and acoustic emission characteristics of anthracite with different loading rates, water volumes, and particle sizes were studied . Considering the particle size effect of coal rocks, the influence of different height diameter ratios on the AE characteristics of damage evolution of coal rocks is studied .…”

“…Therefore, methods such as acoustic emission (AE) and electromagnetic radiation (EMR) were widely used in monitoring outburst disasters [24][25][26]. Zheng et al [27] found that the acoustic emission characteristics of coal varied significantly over different periods. Kong et al [28] conducted triaxial compression experiments on methane-bearing coal.…”
