Acoustoelectric Effect in degenerate Carbon Nanotube

Abstract: Acoustoelectric Effect AE in degenerate Carbon Nanotube (CN T ) was theoretically studied for hypersound in the regime ql >> 1. The dependence of acoustoelectric current j ac on the acoustic wave number q and frequency ω q at T = 10K and scattering angle (θ > 0) was evaluated at various harmonics n = ±1, 2, ... (where n is an integer). In the first harmonics (n = ±1), the non-linear dependence of j ac on ω q and q were obtained. For n = ±2, the numerically evaluated j ac qualitatively agreed with an experiment… Show more

“…Recently, a series of related studies in Graphene and CNT with degenerate energy dispersion has been conducted (theoretically) in the hypersound regime ql >> 1 (q is the acoustic wavenumber, l is the mean free path). The results obtained qualitatively agreed with an experimentally obtained results [12,19]. In multilayer-graphene-based system, Yurchenko et.…”

“…The study of amplification of acoustic phonons propagated along the axes of low-dimensional and bulk materials such as Semiconductor Superlattices (SL) [4,5,6,7], 2D-Graphene sheet [8,9], Quantum Wells (QW) [10,11], and Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) [12,13] are actively persued recently using microscopic theory of electron -phonon interactions. This is due to the electronic and optoelectronic applications including the production of SASER (Sound Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), for dynamic storage of light in quantum wells and acoustic wave induced carrier transport [9].…”

“…Acoustoelectric effect (AE) in Bulk and Low-dimensional semiconducting materials has been extensively studied both experimentally [1,2,3,4,5,6,7] and theoretically [8,9,10,11]. Recently, AE studies in Nano materials such as Graphene [12,13,14,15,16] and Carbon Nanotube (CNT) [17,18,19,20] has attracted special attention. This is due to the remarkable electrical and mechanical properties of these materials especially the extreme electron mobility which persist at room temperatures.…”
