“…Pretreatment of the animals with pyrazole, an inhibitor of alcohol dehydrogenase, reduced the mutagenic activity ofthe urine which was then completely suppressed after pretreatment of the animals with COCh or SKF 525-A, inhibitors of the mixed-function-oxydase system, or in the presence of trichloroacetonitrile, a radical trapping agent (Lambotte-Vandepaer et aJ., 1981). No chromosome aberrations have been detected in the bone marrow cells of rats and mice treated with ACN (Rabello-Gay and Ahmed, 1980;Leonard et at., 1981), or in the lymphocytes of chronically exposed workers (Thiess and Fleig, 1978a). ACN induced cell transformation in Syrian golden hamster embryo cell culture; an enhancement of virus transformation was obtained in similar cells pretreated with simian adenovirus (Parent and Casto, 1979).…”

“…After 8 weeks, 6 rats from each group were anaesthetized with ether before sacrifice. The bone marrow was processed using some modifications in the method described by (Rabello-Gay and Ahmed, 1980). 1-Colchicine (BDH Chemicals Ltd Poole, England) was prepared as 0.5% solution and injected intramuscularly in the rats at a dose of 0.25 ml/100 gm body weight.…”

“…Thiess and Fleig (1978) 66) studied whether of not chromosomal aberrations of peripheral lymphocytes would increase in workers exposed to 1.5-5 ppm (estimated levels) of AN for an average of 10-15 years, and found no changes in the incidence of chromosomal aberrations. Rabello-Gay and Ahmed (1980) 67) showed that treatment of mice orally with 7-21 mg/kg/day of AN for 4-30 days did not result in increased chromosomal aberrations of bone marrow cells. Leonard et al (1981) 68) reported that AN had negative results in both micronucleus test using murine erythrocytes and dominant lethal test using germs cells from male mice.…”
