Abstract:Moguisteine is an antitussive agent with a novel chemical structure [1]. Its pharmacological activity has been tested on experimental animals and in several clinical trials. In guinea-pigs, moguisteine was found to reduce cough elicited by citric acid inhalation and electrical stimulation of the airway mucosa as effectively as codeine and dextromethorphan [2]. Moguisteine, injected into the cerebral ventricles of guinea-pigs, does not inhibit electrically stimulated cough, which is, instead, effectively blocke… Show more
Chronic CS-exposed guinea pig is suitable for studying chronic pathological cough, in which naringin is effective on inhibiting both airway neurogenic inflammation and enhanced cough.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
