Í70 3 / UF6 / Fuel cycle / U02 / UFt Summary Processes for conversion of U03 to UF6 for use in the isotopie enrichment part of the fuel cycle have been operated on a tons/day scale for decades. Thé basic route which involves reduction of U03 to U02 with Hj, followed by conversion to UF4 with HF, and then fluorination with elemental F2 to give UF6, is described with discussion of some of the key technology points. Limited comments on methods of purification of the UF, and on alternative conversion routes are presented.
